How to Allow Camera Access Permissions on My Device

Whether you need to perform a biometric identity verification or make a video call, you must allow the browser or app access to your camera.

Usually, the first time you access one of these services, you will be asked for permission. However, there are situations where you’ll need to do it manually. Here’s how.

On Desktop

Safari

When you first access the service:

1. You will be prompted to grant camera permissions via a modal.
2. Click “Allow.”

If you denied camera access:

You may have accidentally, or otherwise, blocked the camera permission. To re-enable it, follow these steps:

1. Click the icon located on the left side of the search bar.
2. Go to “Website Settings…”

3. At the bottom, find the “Camera” row and change the status to “Allow.”

4. Reload the page.

Chrome

When you first access the service:

1. You will be prompted to allow camera permissions via a modal.
2. Click “Allow.”

If you denied camera access:

If you denied the permissions, you’ll need to enable them manually as follows:

1. Click the settings icon located on the left side of the search bar.
2. Find the “Camera” section and toggle it to enable.
3. Reload the page.

Firefox

When you first access the service:

1. You will be prompted to grant camera permissions via a modal.
2. Click “Allow.”

If you denied camera access:

In Firefox, it’s easy to re-enable camera permissions if you previously denied them:

1. Click the crossed-out camera icon found on the left side of the search bar.
2. Next to “Camera usage,” click “Blocked” to allow access.
3. Reload the page.

On Smartphone

On iOS

When you first access the service:

1. You will be prompted to allow camera permissions via a modal.
2. Click “Allow.”

If you denied permissions from the modal:

On iOS, regardless of the browser you’re using, you can reset camera permissions simply by reloading the page if you denied them from the modal.

If you denied permissions from the settings:

However, if you denied camera permissions from the browser settings, you’ll need to grant them again from the settings:

1. Click the icon on the left side of the search bar.

2. Click the three-dot button located in the bottom right corner.

3. At the bottom of the list, find the “Camera” section and change the status to “Allow.”

When you first access the service:

1. You will be prompted to grant camera permissions via a modal.
2. Click “Allow.”

If you denied permissions from the modal:

On iOS, regardless of the browser you’re using, you can reset camera permissions simply by reloading the page if you denied them from the modal.

If you denied permissions from the settings:

If you previously blocked camera permission on your device, the modal requesting permission will not appear. In this case, you’ll need to allow it from your iPhone settings:

1. Go to “Settings” and click on “Privacy & Security.”

2. Scroll down to find the “Camera” section and click on it.

3. Now, in the list of apps, find “Chrome” and toggle it to grant camera permissions.

4. Return to the browser and reload the page.

Firefox

When you first access the service:

1. You will be prompted to allow camera permissions via a modal.
2. Click “Allow.”

If you denied permissions from the modal:

On iOS, regardless of the browser you’re using, you can reset camera permissions simply by reloading the page if you denied them from the modal.

If you denied permissions from the settings:

If you previously blocked camera permission on your device, the modal requesting permission will not appear. In this case, you’ll need to allow it from your iPhone settings:

1. Go to “Settings” and click on “Privacy & Security.”

2. Scroll down to find the “Camera” section and click on it.

3. Now, in the list of apps, find “Firefox” and toggle it to grant camera permissions.

4. Return to the browser and reload the page.

If you manually denied permissions:

If you did not accept the permissions when first requested, you’ll need to enable camera access manually from the browser settings:

1. Click the three dots located in the bottom right corner next to the search bar.

2. Scroll down and click “Settings.”

3. Go to “Site Permissions.”

4. Enter the “Camera” section.

5. Change the setting to “Ask to allow.”
6. Reload the page.

If you manually denied permissions:

If, accidentally or otherwise, you denied camera permissions, you’ll need to grant them manually from the browser settings:

1. Click the padlock icon on the left side of the search bar.

2. Click on the “Permissions” section.
3. Enable the “Camera” option.

4. Reload the page.
